The Cooperative Regional Control Center West (KRLS West) replaced its monitor equipment in autumn 2024 and has been using EIZO FlexScan EV3895 curved ultrawide monitors with a 37.5-inch diagonal ever since. This decision was made as part of a hardware replacement in which the requirements for the new monitors were clearly defined: They had to be curved and compatible with the format of the newly planned operations control system.

The KRLS West receives all emergency calls from the districts of Dithmarschen, Segeberg, Steinburg and Pinneberg. Covering an area of 4,492 km² and serving almost 877,000 inhabitants, KRLS West handles around 215,000 112 emergency calls every year, resulting in around 154,000 call-outs. This makes the Elmshorn control center one of the twelve largest of around 230 control centers in Germany.

All operations are queried, dispatched, alerted and coordinated by the KRLS West in a standardized manner. Almost 70 specially trained employees from the district of Pinneberg take the 112 emergency calls in a fully continuous alternating shift service and are therefore available around the clock for citizens in the region.

Use in the telecommunications operating and multifunctional room

The EIZO FlexScan EV3895 monitors are used in the telecommunications operations room and the adjoining multifunctional room. A total of 22 fully-fledged workstations are equipped with three monitors each and four reduced workstations with one monitor each for special situations. The monitors are used for the operations control system and various support tools.

"The quality, reliability and durability of the EIZO monitors convinced us once again. The possibility of a demo in advance was particularly helpful, which supported us in our decision-making process. Another important factor was our good experience with the use of EIZO monitors in continuous operation, as the control center works 24/7/365."

KRLS West was already using EIZO monitors before the hardware was replaced, which made the decision to use EIZO again an obvious one. The new EV3895 monitors fulfill all the requirements and help to ensure that the control center can carry out its tasks efficiently and reliably.

About the Cooperative Regional Control Center West

The KRLS West is an innovative control center for fire and rescue services in the Schleswig-Holstein metropolitan region. It is responsible for the districts of Dithmarschen, Segeberg, Steinburg and Pinneberg and handles around 215,000 112 emergency calls every year, and the number is rising. The KRLS West is available to citizens around the clock and supports the emergency services on site with its services. The Schleswig-Holstein state police also operate the 110 police call for the four districts in the building, but with separate tasks. The close proximity offers short communication channels for necessary coordination in joint emergency situations, which contributes significantly to the success of the operation.
